I have been a member for a number of years but have never participated in the community. (Kind of like how I am in the real world too- "a loner") Most often my questions have been answered by searching the forums and when it comes to posting comments or photos maybe a little too self conscious.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for assisting in my education of this challenging new hobby and to let you know there are many lurkers who appreciate all your efforts. Yes, now that I made a first post, I'll consider doing more

NPN 415 - that must have been in late 2001 / early 2002, am I close?

Hehe - better late then never! You have this "Serious Nature Photographer" look in your image, very cool!

This is my experience too. NPN and its members have helped me a great deal with my photography, with knowledge about plants and animals and with so much more! And I made good friends here.

Interesting picture and website, John. I particularly enjoyed some of your Great-Grandfather`s poems about old Ireland.

Sven; I first found NPN in February 01 from a link on Bill Silliker's web site when I was thinking about buying my first camera. (Bill was married to a close friend's cousin and I had met him once or twice at their family gatherings)
In any case I became addicted to the NPN and joined in early/mid 2002 after I bought my second camera

I was hooked
