Cow Elk and Calf, Canadian Rockies

We spent the morning with a small herd of cow elk and several calves hoping to get some playful calf images. Unfortunately the calves weren't very energetic, but I did get some nice cow with calf moments. Comments and suggestions very much appreciated.

Ken, this is a really fine photo showing behavior, environment, and masterful execution. One I would be proud to have in my portfolio!

Ken,
This is precious! I love seeing the maternal sides of these gorgeous animals. She looks so encouraging and comforting to the little one in his/her foray into the water. :toast: :toast:

Ken,

a very nice image, especially because of the mother looking to the young. The technical part and the composition over all look very pleasing as well.

This is a really nice image. I like the low angle. The depth of field works really well to keep the two animals in focus. Catchlight in both their eyes gives them a lot of life and love the way you captured them looking at each other. Nice work.

Is that from this year? The only calf I got this year was after a bear found it first. Nice shot.

I would have liked to see a little more light on the mother's face, but I would also like a million dollars, so, GREAT SHOT!! :wavey: :jump:
