Scarlet Tanager
by Robert Royse
Here's a shot from last April in the Shawnee State Forest in southern Ohio. Scarlet Tanagers are one of Ohio's most common treetop birds, but they can be really tough to get at eye level. It can also be problematic processing photos of these guys, keeping the details in the reds and the saturation sufficient. I wish the light wasn't so harsh here, but it would probably be even more difficult to keep the details in the reds if the light was flatter.
