Canon 10D, Sigma 180+1.4x, Gitzo/A-S B1
ISO 100, 1/200s, f/5.6, Av, Eval -1/3, 550EX+diffuser -2
Cropped a little from top and bottom, minor cloning on upper right edge

Shot in my backyard yesterday in heavy overcast mid-day light.

After a couple years of waiting I finally got to see one of these cats pupate and just happened to be home to catch its exit! More pics coming...

Beautiful image Jay. I would love to see a monarch pupate since its quite different than the black swallowtails that I see.
I love the soft pastel colors in this shot.

Wonderful colors! Very sharp subject, and beautiful soft colors for the BG. I would like to see a little more room on the left, but that's hardly worth mentioning with everything else this image has going for it!

Wonderful soft colors, great comp - fantastic. Looks like it could be the cover to a book - maybe a children's book ...

OK, I know how much you'll love this, but it has a real "artsy" look.

Yes Jay this a wonderfully dreamy image - my only nit is the arching oof stem above the wing - I'd use the healing brush on that. Awesome stuff :toast:

Jay,

Wow, your really nailed this one. You got everything going here, great looking flower, perfect Monarch (no flaws), nice lighting and a smooth background. When you can't tell the flash was used, you know you got it right. Well done. :toast: :toast:
