So I am waiting for a boatload of chrome to edit and hopefully find a couple of zingers from the summer expeditions and decide to update the website - so here is an oldy but not so moldy from one stunning morning at Point Imperial - yes its an icon - and yes there isnt too much required of the photographer other than careful use of the meter and not kicking the tripod during the exposure (and the 20 mph plus gusts)- but I like it - sort of like how I like strawerry jam - btw I had to TONE DOWN the strawberry jam - it was a real "jammy" morning

Nye,

This is awesome. Glad you didn't kick the tripod and good job with the wind. Not to much required, right.

Nye,
Well I like the mood here. The softness works for me and I'll also state the obvious: those clouds are awesome! I'm not a big fan of strawberry jam, but I'll take that over toe jam anyday! (sorry for that!)

The colors are out of this world (in a good way  ) ... does seem a little soft to me, not sure why this would be, especially w/ your "f22 and be there"

Wow! Before seeing this my favorite image of Mt. Hayden was the one in Jack Dykinga's LF book. This one is at least as good if not better (I'll need a print to tell for sure :)

thank you all

I tried a different sharpening methodology on this one and didnt catch the softness on hayden when i posted possibly due to an excess of zinfandel - I will fix that ( with a good shiraz)

Don't forget the Merlot. This is gorgeous...the color, light, atmospheric perspective, clouds....has it all.

A fine piece of work Mr. Simmons. A very minor bump in contrast may just do the job.

Good photography.

Joe.

Wow! That's a special image, Nye. I'm with Joe in that a little contrast boost - bottom half only - would work better for me. I'm not sure I would have been able to contain myself if I had been there. Simply amazing!

Amazing colours, Nye. If you hadn't said so I would have thought that these colours are not real. Very nice!

It is just amazing that people keep photographing scenes like this when the could be shooting the gravel in the parking lot and calling it art.

Thanks for posting this, you have set a new standard and it shows what can be done with familiar locations. :toast:

I know it ain't easy to be at Point Imperial at sunrise unless you sleep in your car. This is as fine a shot from here as I've ever seen. Perfect placement of My Hayden, awesome sky, yadayada.
