Coyote

Last Thursday, early in the morning, it suddenly started snowing in Banff. It went on for a few hours and left quite a nice cover (which was mostly gone again in two days). This Coyote was walking around on an open field not too far from Two Jack Lake, hunting for rodents underneath the snow. I watched him catch one actually, but wasn't able to make a photo of that unfortunately. That's because my lens has taken a fall early during the project that I am working on and is damaged. The AF doesn't work anymore, and focusing and zooming manually has become very heavy and slow. It is insured, but since it's not completely broken, I won't get a new one, and repairing it will take about six weeks!!!! By that time I will be back home in the Netherlands... FRUSTRATING!!!
You have to admire these animals... for many many years people have tried to exterminate them by hunting, poisoning, snaring, and whatever other ugly ways people can think of to unmake a life, but despite the fact that an astounding number of them were killed, they are still around in good numbers! Their ability to adapt and to feed on almost everything is what kept them alive.
Applause!
