Bald Eagle

I am pleased to report that the Bald Eagles are back at Brackendale, B.C. This was taken a couple of days ago (together with Ed) of one perching quite majestically on a thoroughly spawned out Pacific Salmon (Chinook, I think, judging from the size). The only problem with the location is that we are quite high up the bank - oh, for more sure-footedness - and lighting is often difficult for the subject's white and dark areas.

Thanks for looking and comments please. I must say that there have been many wonderful images posted recently :wavey:

Great shot. Reminds me of the Chilkat near Haines, AK. The salmon head in the corner and the tail on the left add a nice dynamic.

Hi Kwan,
this is a beautiful bird, and the perch is unique! Cool photo.

Thanks, Miadora - I had originally played around with the crop and did not include the rocks/stones at the top; I decided to post this to 'explain' why the water is that drab and dirty colour. I agree that I should have omitted them, and will do in the final version.

Oh man, is this incredible, or what? The fish in the corner could be a photo in itself. When added to the whole scene, it makes for one outstanding bird image. I could go either way with the rocks at the top, but think the image is even stronger without them. Killer stuff Kwan.

Wow! I love everything about this image. The lighting and pose are terrific. It reminds me of the Quillayute River on the Pacific side of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State where we saw lots of Bald Eagles feasting on salmon. But I never got an image as good as this one!
