Cape Cross in Namibia, is the breeding place of the Cape Fur Seals, which are actually a species of Sea Lion. Along the Namibian and South African coast there are 24 colonies with a seal population of about 650,000 animals. About 80,000 to 100,000 seals inhabit Cape Cross. You can probably imagine the sound that goes with this shot, but I can assure you that the smell was much more impressive.

Excellent shot Marsel! I really like the diagonal line in this shot. The Fur Seals in front look great and the fog (probably caused by the splashing water) certainly adds to this. The overal impression is a bit oversharpened...but still a beauty! When will your website be online?

Thanks.

Jasper - I have a meeting with a web company next week. I will do the design myself, they will take care of the technique and the whole infrastructure. The site should be online this summer. And yes I know, it has taken me forever...

Very nice lighting and a wonderful composition throughout the entire image. The seals (sea lions) in the water really top it off. well done :toast:

Marsel, I really like the warm colors on the fg seals which fade to slightly cooler colors in the bg. Great comp and sounds like quite an experience.
