Hole in The Wall

Crunchy rust coloured bracken carpets the undulating slopes of Loughrigg Fell above Ambleside in the lake district of England. The dawn sees the first rays of rosy light struggling through the clouds and a ray of light pierces the gap in the old flint wall crafted years ago by folk from a bygone era.

Hi Ian,

I think rich colors and leading lines in the foreground are trademarks of your style and this is certainly no exception. A fascinating, enchanted landscape. I also always enjoy your photos because I get to see parts of the UK I've never seen and will likely never visit. Randy

Ian,
The depth of this image is remarkable. Boy I think this is really exceptional. My eyes just feast and flow through it easily. :toast:

Something not mentioned so far is the way the hump of the mountain is complimented by the curve of the gap in the wall. They go together perfectly. Having seen enough of Ian's shots I know this was no accident. The wall itself forms a strong diagonal.

That's a great view of one of my favorite places to mountain bike Ian! Brings back some cherished memories looking at this view - and the framing of the hill through the dry stone wall is superb! I have just used a similar framing device on a photo taken in Skye over Easter, though I think you have more dynamism in this image than I managed in mine :frown:

Stunning as usual sir :toast:
