Cool shot! I like the blurred bg with emphasis on the face & I also like the composition. This image really grabs my attention! I like it very much. :toast:

IMO, this one is a grand slam! The sharp and detailed head composed in a "green sea of dead space" really strikes a chord with me.

David, check your email.

David: I do not like snakes, even the harmless varieties, but this is just superb! EP and cover potential here. >=))>

Great use of narrow Dof to really make the face of the snake jump off the screen

Wow - this is definately an attention grabber David.

Great use of thirds: head on the lower right third and the curve of the OOF body on the upper left third. Did you blur portions of this or was it taken with an open lens?

David, you outdid yourself on this one, my friend. It's just perfect. The composition is almost too good to be true! Absolutely excellent.

Perfect :toast: just enough detail retained in the background to make good use of the stripe down the back of the snake in the composition

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Will,,,the exposure was 1/4 sec, f9. No blur was added to the bg. I was surprised that it hung around long enough to set up the tripod and get in position at ground level. After a few quick frames, it was gone.

David, you have confirmed why I don't like running into snakes of ANY kind--even harmless garter snakes.
You captured an ominous stare, and I will probably have nightmares tonight. Great work! (Question: how close were you to the snake?)
