Galapagos Is. Crab

One of the thousands of colorful Sally Lightfoot crabs on my recent trip to the Galapgos Islands. They were named after a particularly-flamboyant "lady of the night", probably from the time in the 1800's that sailors visited the islands and took as many tortoises as they could for a meat supply.

D1X, 105 macro, hand-held, cropped on 4 sides, sharpened, levels.

Love the colors...not just of the crab, but of the environment too.

These guys, when full-grown , are about 6 inches from leg tip to leg tip. They are everywhere, and light up the lava rocks with color. S
