I live in Sandy, Oregon, east of Portland, in a great spot on the Sandy River that is full of wildlife. I'm a mostly-retired Advanced-Practice RN, and have been a serious photographer for about 10 years. I'm now finally freer to travel more, and spent most of April, 2006 in Ecuador, the Amazon jungle, and the Galapagos Islands. (3/08 Update - lots of other places since!)
Lugging around a D1X and a big camera backpack all day every day in the Galapagos just about did me in, so I recently got a D200 and just love it. (3/08 Update - love my new D300!)
I was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and go back to visit my parents and other relatives regularly, and I also spent 20 years in LA and then N. CA while working full time.
I have been a member of NPN for several years, and hope to be more active now, and learn from all the great photographers and suggestions here. What a great community
(3/08 Update : what a WONDERFUL community!)
4/09 update: Now living back in the SF East Bay area again
October 2016 update: After 5 yrs in N California caring for my mother, I have now moved back to Oregon, thank God.I married a retired Biologist and Environmental Sciences professor, Dr. Jim Brown, in October 2015. He shares my love of travel, and we spent 6 weeks in Africa, 3 weeks in Sanibel, a couple weeks in the Smokies, and various other places in the last 3 yrs. He is an excellent bird-spotter, driver ("please creep the truck ahead 6 inches so that branch is not across the bird..") and SHERPA.
