Red Eyed Fly

I just received my latest macro lens and even though the weather isn't cooperating I found a few minutes and a few willing subjects to test it this afternoon. I don't think it did bad at all considering the dark, cloudy, windy conditions. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful...can't wait.

An ID on this fly would be greatly appreciated.

Nikon D70
Nikon 70-180mm Micro Nikkor at 180mm

Nice job getting it sharp Mike. I just hate the look of flies close up.. One of my favorite shots is a fly just like this being eaten by a small Orchard spider.

I really want your lens Mike, would you mind if I borrow it for a month or so?!?

It looks like the lighting worked in your favor at this end. Great detail :toast:

Sure, Will...for a (phe)nominal fee I'll be glad to lease it to you for a while

It is taking some nice shots. I got an Assassin Bug predating a beetle yesterday. I'll post one tonight.

Detail is finer than hairs on a fly's leg-oh wait it is hair on a fly's leg...
