Silver Studded Blues

I went to a Cornish SSSI site a few days ago in my never ending search for orchids and the whole place was a butterfly orgie!!

This is a Silver Studded Blue which is rather rare in the South West of England apparently. I cant tell you anymore than that as I know nothing about butterflys. As soon as I get anywhere near anything that moves it's gone before I get a chance. These two on the other hand were somewhat preoccupied, but they kept spinning round and round this grass, so getting a plane of focus was really tricky.

EOS 5D, Tamron 180, f10 for a 1/320th ISO 400

Excellent shot with great detail. You could probably use it as a horizontal too. :toast:

A real beauty David. Nice work waiting for that plane of focus to work out!

Just gorgeous. If it was mine, I might try flipping it vertically.

this is really fantastic image-- and very lucky to get it, too. they exist over here in CZ, too so is nice to have such a clear image that I can use later for reference. thanks. you might consider listing it elsewhere with latin classification for identification. very nice.

plebeius argus plebejus argus thanks very much
