Another from the Alvord trip. I was fascinated with the natural tiles in the wet playa.

I've seen this a few times at least on the Alvord, but minus the complimentary clouds. Nice catch here Zack.

Cool one, Zack, what about cropping out that little bit of golbbel-de-gook in the bottom mid-right? Makes it cleaner, IMHO.

Ah....beat me to it! LOL I was just working on these in B&W. You did a wonderful job in the conversion. I think I may need to head back out there again soon to reshoot it with my 5D.

Really excellent - I love the patterns you found. I kind of agree with Mark about losing the gobbly gook, but I'd clone it out since everything else is perfect.

Sweet Zack. The composition and elements are outstanding. It has a feeling of desolation yet a welcoming warmth. I might be inclined to push the contrast even more and darken up the grays in the foreground to really increase that welcoming warmth.

Sweet shot Zack. I like how the tiles smoothly transition into the reflected clouds which leads to the sky. It's also cool to see the stages leading up to the dry cracked mud.

Great stuff Zack. How deep is the well of images form this trip? I've really enjoyed all the posts so far. The high contrast in the FG and the great cloud cover really makes this work as a B&W but I'm just curious to see what the colour version looks like. Congrats on making the most out of the opportunities presented on the trip.

Another fantastic image from that trip!
I like the more dramatic repost even better!
Superb! (that counts for all the images you posted earlier from that location!)
I bet quite a few photographers will check that place out very soon...

This is really outstanding, the ground patterns together with the cloudscape are just perfect ! High horizon, wide angle perspective, eccentric vanishing point, echo of land and sky, all together make an excellent B&W landscape. Hats off !
