On a day of rain where I couldn't find a grand landscape despite being on an exotic island I experimented with DOF in the macro environment.

Very interesting image! For my taste the composition would be better if not as centred.Maybe you should try the rule of third. :wavey:

Michael, This is a very cool shot :toast: .

Really love the choice of depth of field here. Like Marius, I too may try moving the center (yellow) a little more to the top right to fall in line with rule of thirds.

Regards

Great vision Mike, I like this a lot! I understand the comments for off-centering this, but I kind of like this as presented. Well seen and done!

I like the comp as is..."rules" can be bent (or broken). I love the vibrant colors and the lines.

Wonderful image! i like the comp. i think if it was moved towards the corners you would lose the "radiating in all directions feel".

fantastic, I love the lighting, the color combination rocks, and the comp design works for me. it would work for me too off center. :toast: :toast:

Mike I agree that this should be left as is. With the centering, I think you get a feel of the lines radiating out of the image - at the viewer sort of. If the lines were coming too much from one side, I think I'd get a feeling of the lines radiating off to somewhere left or right - and I think the image would seem flatter. That said - this is really great

I first opened this one at work. It was nice, but not quite what I would comment on. With my home monitor, the colors just pop. I really like that and the radiating lines from the top center. I don't think I would crop to the rule of thirds here, but that is more by personal taste.

Thanks for posting.

Mike,

Spectacular image you have made here. The brilliance of the lines radiating out from the gold center is just so eye catching, well done. :toast:

The quality of lines and contrasting colors here is fantastic. It almost hurts not allowing your eyes to track down the lines to the yellow point of interest. You did put the bright yellow area near one of the "rule of thirds" horizontal lines and IMO it doesn't have to be moved to one of the intersecting points. It is ourstanding the way it is.

This image has huge impact. The lighting on the leaf makes the shot. The positioning doesn't bother me at all. But, I would prefer to see it sharpened a wee bit? Isn't it fun to do something different when the weather, people or environment don't cooperate? Love the photo.
