Nikon D200 & 18-70 Lens @ 29mm, F22, 1 sec. A view from the tunnel to construction site 129 at the Marin Headlands in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This is my forst post in this forum so I hope that this image doesn't include to much evidence of a hand of man...if so, my apologies. Comments/critiques are welcome and appreciated.

I love the mood of this and welcome to the forums, Bishop. Your angle and everything worked well... makes it actually look safer inside than out.

This has a nice feel Bishop - like a spooky movie scene almost. I like how you can't make out much of anything in the trees and the overall comp.

Is this the tunnel under Hawk Hill? Spooky shot. I miss the Bay Area so much. I haven't been there in a year.

This is very moody and mysterious, i love it! I like how you composed the scene with the tunnel framing the scene and all lines leading towards the trees- the fog is the perfect finishing touch. Very nicely done.

I absolutely love it and would buy it in a heartbeat. But not right now, I don't have any money, actually, HaHa! Really though, I love it, pure magic, well done. Tim

Thanks all for your comments...much appreciated! I made a few exposures on this day and have come to enjoy this one the most. Glad to know it conveys the mood of the place...although a bit spooky (fog seems to do that, huh?)...mood is something that I want to try and capture more of in my images.

Richard -- Not sure if this is under Hawk Hill...this tunnel is about 2 miles from the entrance to Marin Headlands from 101 and the Golden Gate. Hope you can get out soon but perhaps ince it cools down...108 in the Sacramento area today!

Tim -- I would print it now if I had the money for a frame and matting, etc. Appreciated your comment!

WOW, this is fantastic! This has got to be one of the neatest, best composed, and perfectly executed shots I've seen in a while. It just doesn't get any better than this IMO. Very, very well done

Bishop,
It's funny, ( funny strange not funny HaHa ) , but when I saw this image it reminded me of a recent post I had in the "General Discussion Forum " . That post got almost no response but I've taken a new direction because of it .
Part of it stated " Preferred pictures often contained broad views of landscape, especiallly scenes that provided a hidden vantage point where an observer could view the terrain from a place of refuge. Scenes with an element of mystery, where something was happening, or could happen were also favoured." This image really hits it on the head, Here is the link to the article
I just find it interesting and think there is merit there. Tim

I half expect a knight on his mount to emerge from the mist. I like it.

Excellent scene!! :toast: :toast:

I feel very 'Halloweeny' when I view this. The fog makes me feel like I want to pull those gates shut & hide in the tunnel. Great soft colors & shadows! I really really like it! Spooky, mysterious, magical!!
