WC #239 -- Misty Harbor Morning

I was driving by the small boat harbor (Valdez, Alaska) on the way to work and saw that the sun was just starting to burn off the morning fog and was lighting up the boats and buildings. I had to stop and shoot a few frames of the scene. It meant I would be late to work but rest assured, I had my priorities straight

Looks like you were right on time here anyhow-the fog and clarity of the boats is very well captured. I applaud your work ethic

Lovely light and comp. Timing of the fog burnoff was perfect.

Thank you all for the kind words. The thing I like best about this one is that the subtle, barely visible background mountain is actually the cornerstone of the composition. The ridge/sky line and the reflection of it create the base of a strong triangular graphical element that tickles the brain and enhances the perspective. I shot a number of different angles and zooms but none of them worked near as well as this version, just because of that little bit of mountain.

Nice one, Gary. I agree with you about the mountain. I've gotta use my skymiles to get back to Alaska.

Gary what an absolutely gorgeous shot. I would imagine that there would be a market for this one locally as it exudes incredible atmosphere and makes me want to stay and drink in the scenery.
