Nyati (Water Buffalo)
by Robert Ganz
This is a water buffalo taken in Serengeti or Masai Mara in the early 60's. I can't take credit for the photo (it was my Dad), but I have the copyright now, and have worked it over in PS. The original slide was so faded and dust-specked and discolored, that there was not much hope for it as a photo.
I wish I had been there...this was a heartstopping moment for my Dad as the big buffalo turned and locked it's gaze on him. These critters are not known for their amiable nature :)
This was not taken with a telephoto lens...at most a 135mm.
Near as I can tell by the rules here, if I hold the copyright then I am alright posting this. If this is not correct, please accept my apologies and remove it.
I've been busy going over old film of mine and my Dad's...archiving to DVD, and trying to save the really bad ones.
Take care,

3 commentsI like it very much, the lighting looks wonderful. Great job on this, if the rest turn out this good, that'll be quite the DVD!
Your dad must have been brave! Oh the days when men were made of steel and 135mm lenses were used to shoot wildlife....
