Yet ANOTHER Redpoll!!

I could probably post a common redpoll shot every 48hrs for the next two years if I wanted! This is one of my favorites to date. Thankfully these guys have been regulars in the yard all winter or else I'd be going nuts from lack of birds to shoot! Thanks for looking.

I agree, your best to date. The sumac perch is fantastic and the cocked head really brings this alive. :toast:

Incredible texture, line and color all composed just right. ----Being a mostly foot and up bird size shooter I have a lot to look forward to when one day I am taught the secrets of smaller bird photographery. This image has me looking forward to that day. :toast:

If I got a picture like this every day, I would be happy just photographing the one species. Beautiful, beautiful shot.

Gorgeous color, Garth. Compositionally I wouldn't mind seeing less space at the top and more image at the bottom, but on the other hand there's just enough room up top for a magazine logo!

Garth,
IMHO, this is not only your best redpoll that has been posted, but one of my favorites of all the shots you have posted. Not a single thing that I could even begin to nit.

Nice sharp photograph with a great even background.

Feather detail is startlingly nice.

What is the red thing the bird is sitting on?

The bird is perched on a clump of sumac seeds. It's a natural food source in the winter.
