Made this just as this Sanderling braced itself against the wind.

I love this shot because it is so different From the angle though I'm guessing you weren't enjoying the grit flying around your lens

What a neat shot!! The gradation of color from FG to BG adds a lot of interest also, it defines your description of the blowing sand..well done, Satie!!

Thanks for the comment, David. Not fog, but sand. Cleaning the camera and lens after this session was not something I enjoyed very much.

I look at this beautiful picture, and my second thought is trying to imagine you hanging onto your tripod and that lens. Excellent work.

His hunkered down pose must have mirrored yours as you lay in the blowing sand. This is quite a dramatic shot Satie.

Hi Satie,
Great stuff!! I did some shooting in some crazy wind this morning, and the sand didn't end up in my pictures in a cool way like this, just in my mouth. Oh well :) Nice work!

I love these marvelous little birds and their habitat. I've also tried to photograph them, but usually my shots end up in the trash. So, I know how difficult it is to portray them in character. Under tough conditions you made the most amazing Sanderling portrait I have EVER seen.
