I was able to photograph this coyote at close range a couple of weeks ago for about 15 minutes. This is one of the last shots that I took. When I decided to change my shooting position the coyote decided that our session together was over and left, but not before giving me this over the shoulder look.

Very well done. I like the low angle and selective focus.

Very nice shot Nate!!! Fifteen minutes, huh? Can't wait to see your other shots also. Same pros as others, I only wish there was just a bit more room at the top. Minor though!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Terrific image. Don't you just hate it when you change position and your subject heads for the hills. At least this time you caught at least one great image before it left.

Just beautiful Nate. May I ask how you get so close? The things are so spooky around here you literally can't get within 1/4 mile of one.

Terry - Thanks! I just got lucky. These animals live at a wetland and I think are somewhat accustomed to people and not persecuted there. The 2 owners of the wetland, one business and one reserve, must not have it out for them like your ranchers do. As far as special techniques, I may have been wearing camoflauge but the coyote certainly saw me. I had moved downhill in a gulch and was shooting up at it to make myself less conspicuous. However, I know they live there year round and have only gotten close 3 times.

Terry; head over to Yellowstone. You can approach them pretty close there.

Lovely shot! The background on the right is a bit distracing but besides that I love it all and the shoulder look between the grass is excellent!
