Weeping Japanese Maple

This is one of the most interesting trees at the Planting Fields in Oyster Bay. For years I've wanted to shot this tree from the inside in the fall and every year I'm either too late, early or the sky doesn't cooperate. Finally this year it all came together. Nikon D2X, 16mm 1/45sec at f14. Slight crop from left.

Persistence has paid off for you Steve. What an intriguing image! I love the curve of the trunk, and the color of the leaves is great.

An awesome photo! The tree trunk twisting upward to meet that swirling mass of color is amazing. A special photo! Congratulations. :toast: :toast:

This is really nice. I especially like the curve of the trunk, and the darkness contrasted with the color of the leaves. :toast: :toast:

Othe thoughts which occurred to me with this shot: Perhaps try the Orton technique on it. Also, possibly try to reshoot this in the future with a long shutter speed and some wind to blow the leaves around. I don't think either idea will improve the image, just give a different interpretation to an already well conceived image.

Thanks for posting!

Steve, this is a wonderful image. The placement of the tree trunk leading our eyes up to the beautiful canopy of leaves is just outstanding. There is enough detail in the tree trunk to give us a real feel of being there on site. Good shot overall.
