In awe of the Narrows....

I was hanging out waiting for Zach to catch up to me and thought I'd try a little self portrait type shot. The narrows was truly an intimidating place, powerful and peaceful at the same time. The water was about 45-50 degrees, which is very cold at first but you seem to numb up pretty fast. We kept seeing people in full dry suit waiters and after a few hours of trodging around in that water I understood why.

Beautiful place. You have positioned yourself well. I like the brighter yellow part that seems to invite me to want to look around the corner.

Awesome shot! It seems a little blue, perhaps my monitor, or perhaps it was that way in the shadows. Great shot anyway though. :toast:

DUDE!!! SWEET!!! I dig this, I think you positioned yourself very well. I'd call you a lamo if I didn't do the same thing all the time
Actually I have a great shot of you a little further up deep in one of the pools that'll I'll post later.

Tremendous shot Jeremy, and great light. The inclusion of yourself really works and gives a great sense of scale here. What an awesome place!

Jeremy,
Your pose is what really makes this IMHO. You seem to be in awe. Very Cool!

Great comp Jeremy. Dry suits are a must back in there.

I'd do a few things to this before you made it a portrait. First, I'd warm it up more to exstinguish the blue tint, then I'd select the highlights, invert selection feathering about 25 pickles :) then increase exposure by 1.0. It would be perfect then.

Thank you.
eh... you may be right, but the light temp in there is pretty accurate to what I shot. It looked very cool in the shadows. I'll see how it looks.

Stunning light makes a stunning photo! You got the exposure perfectly, and that looks like it had to be tricky. Improve? I think you nailed it.

I love this, Jeremy. Really shows the place and tells you what it will take to do the hike.... Congrats on the EP. Very well deserved.

Nice placement of yourself in the image. I think in this though you did not show the scale as it should be IMHO. I like the shot, just does not show the scale of this place to me. Also, you need to desat your blue, the water has to much in it, should be more of the green that flows. Nice capture though, my favorite place I have ever hiked, truly spectacular. I won an award from a shot of this place just recently. I remember the first hike here and after 8 hrs of hiking in the water, my toes were raisins all through the night, lol.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it! If you only knew how many it took to actually get this one you'd laugh. It was so loud in there I couldn't hear the beeping of the camera, and have a ton of images, blurry images, of me turning to see if it had shot....Anyway...Thanks again!
