Glaucous Gull
by Daniel Bergmann
This adult Glaucous Gull Larus hyperboreus was photographed today in Reykjavik, Iceland. I got a fine series of 1st-, 2nd- and ad-winter birds in flight. Now I only need a 3rd-winter plumage to complete it. This is a task for tomorrow.

The sharpness and the detail are the first thing that hit me; the position of the wings is faboltus as well...it look like that this bird was daincing in the air
The light to illustrate the beautiful translucent wings couldn't be nicer.
This is everything I dream about when I drive up to Lake Erie in the winter. I saw only one Glaucous here this year, a shy bird that took off with the thousands of Ring-billeds and Herrings when I approached. We had a short winter this year and my chances never materialized for another opportunity. Maybe some day.....
