The Joy Of Flying

by Ed Cordes

This is an image of a female Mallard I took about a year ago. The original is not so special so I started playing with it. I added a little Twirl and a little of this and that with Lens Flare added for effect.

Most of us who love birds envy their ability to fly. I created this image to show the shear joy that I would experience if I could fly like a bird.

All comments are most welcome.

What an abstract! Brings back pleasant memories of flying kites on the beach when I was a kid. Colorful, playful and completely captivating.

Hmmmm. Someone has extra time on his hands  That said, this is really cool and definitely does what you set out to do. I would never have guessed a mallard was your starting point!

the wonder of this image is your imagination! And what you managed to do with an ordinary shot of a Mallard! This is really fine! :jump:

HI Ed,

Someone here at NPN recently said and I'm paraphrasing ... "If you don't have the perfect shot, play with it."

And you proved his point.

Great composition.

Thanks to all who commented on this image. I have been out of town on vacation and just opened my email to learn of the Moderators' Pick. The image was fun to do since it meant kind of letting go for a while!

Thanks again.

Hi Ed, I'm a late comer to this one but I just had to tell you that it's beautiful. Maybe I lean a little to the right-brain side  good for me! but whenever I get time to browse NPN, Photo Art is always my first stop; and I'm a real sucker for an image like this. I'd hang this in my home for sure.
