Lulu Lake, WI

Photograph was taken at Lulu Lake in Southeastern WI.
I shot this photo early one morning as Rick was paddling toward the rising sun. The early morning fog and shooting into the sun gave everything an orange cast. I did alter this image digitally by removing an anchor Rick had hanging off the back of his boat. I think the anchor distracted from the purity of the scene and the clean lines of his canoe. I'm not sure how I feel about doing that, although I like the picture better without the anchor. I just wish I had noticed it before I shot the photo.
Nikon N70 hand held with a Tamron 70-200 zoom.

I like it; it has a nice overall impact for me. The colors work well here. I like it that I can see the color of his canoe and details like his glasses and the tree branches on the far shore. Removing the anchor doesn't bother me any. Nicely done, I hope you will start adding your comments to every one else's image.

James, very, very nice. I would be tempted to crop along the bottom just up to the reflection. As Anne stated, the detail and color you have held in the canoe are great. Well seen and photographed. I like pictures like this that can convey a mood or feeling. Well done.

James,
Very nice! I'd like to see it cropped into a "pano"format. The early morning colors are great!

James:

Very nice. I am not bothered at all by your removal of the anchor; this is your photo, you are the artist, make it match your vision. The mood of the shot is very nice. I love the mist...

A pano crop would be cool, but I would also hate to lose the top border of the trees...

The light makes it special...the water looks like gold and the mist add a nice atmosphere. A moody, warm image

yo james,

very well executed photograph, but, personally, i've seen this photograph too many times.

that said, i'm sure that this photograph would be a hit with stock houses and/or on postcards in canoe shops/areas.
