This was shot many years ago in northern CA. (Humboldt County) It's been one of my personal favorites as a wildflower shot all these years. I love the colors in the flower bud & the foliage and background has just enough in & OOF detail to keep it interesting.

I think it fits nicely with this weeks theme. The rich vibrant greens of the leaves and the as yet unrealized potential of the soon to open blossom. To me it has a very "expectant" feel to it!

Nikon F3, 200mm f4 IF micro nikkor, Gitzo tripod & cable release, on Fuji 50. Exposure info not recorded. (I'd say probably around 1/4 sec or slower at around f8 or 11)

Hope you like it and as always, comments or critiques are welcome.

Craig

PS. I have recently purchased a new flat screen monitor for my G4, and I do not have the profile dialed in yet. This image was processed & saved using my old CRT monitor and posted here using the new one. If the colors appear odd or extreme please let me know as I am not yet very experienced in getting images to look optimal in any particular browser or web profile. (It's all I can do sometimes to get a decent looking print, (color wise) from my printer.

Hi Craig,

I can see why you like this wildflower shot. I like it too and IMHO I would like to see a little less green and a lot more red.
