Early morning rower in fog

by Richard Miller

Gallery: Man & NaturePosted November 13, 20034,350 views9 comments
A foggy morning, first scull to go under the bridge.

Canon EOS 300D, 28-135 IS lens, f3.5 for 1/100; PaintShop Pro for contrast and brightness adjustments then USM. Also cloned out a low contrast man and dog on the bridge, to be honest about it.

Any comments and critique would be appreciated.

Nice image! The monotone of the BG really makes the rower stand out.

Beautiful photo. Pefect timing as well. I like how the oars are just about to hit the water again. And having all of the circular ripples in the frame really add to this. Of course, a red shirt on this woman is a great touch of color. Excellent.

Print this one LARGE, the bigger you can manage the better! It's one of the more engaging fog photos I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. I agree with Andy's points. This will have tremendous sales potential for anyone with a taste for independence and solitude, especially if their hearts are tied to water and quiet. Very nicely done.

Nicely composed and good timing on the oar position. Very tranquil mood you've captured.

Richard, I really like what you have captured. It reminds me of a national geo pic, would look great across a two page spread. The image without the rower is great and your timing with the oars and placement in the frame push this over the edge. Very solid shot. Well done.

This is beautiful. I like the muted tones which really showcase the rower. The shapes left in the water from the oars add an interesting element.
