hello everyone...
thanks so much for all your mending messages...
my surgery was performed last friday, 6/15/07 and for those of you with an inclination for the carpals in anatomy, my surgery required the removal of my scaphoid and lunate bones which disassociated and had to be reconstructed.
the surgery went well, albeit, i am struggling with a lot of pain and the challenge of being one-armed...but it can be very amusing sometimes to use my teeth, toes and feet...i will leave the visual to your imagination...
shaving is quite another matter, hence i will have to succumb to the 'euro-french style' for a while...brushing my teeth has become an interesting ritual as well which requires me to suck the toothpaste from the tube; swish it around then utilize the toothbrush with my one good arm...and since i can't pull my long hair back/up and out of the way, i still have to figure out how not to get swished toothpaste on my strands...
one amazing feat though, with being one-armed...i can with expert dexterity and precision, open the 'child proof' cap of my pain meds...something to gloat about since normally, i am unable to unscrew those darn things
to the relief of all the hummingbirds around my garden, i am unable to stalk them for awhile...the finches, robins and lizards feel the same...the snails, i am certain, don't care one way or another...
...and to think, that i would finally be able to justify using a tripod...not likely to happen...i can barely change lenses let alone set up the tripod and mount my camera on it...i truly had to employ my big toe to push the button while i twisted the lens off...this was most difficult but i had a good laugh as i hope you all will also...
i am thrilled with all the flowers i have received, including my most favorite...the casablanca...my house has turned into one big nature photo op...woohoo!
i am also thankful for all the exotic fruit baskets...not only are they added photo ops, they will surely help me combat the the effects of the antibiotics, you have no idea
thanks again, everyone for your thoughts and well wishes...and just to convince myself that i am not hallucinating about the fact that my cast is bigger and heavier than me, i am compelled to post it for you to see plus it is the first photo i have taken after my surgery.
i will be back posting with a vengeance very soon as i am considered disabled from work and school for the next 8 weeks...so if any of you have any ideas how i can generate income from this very expensive photo hobby, please feel free to ping me, seriously...
the one-eyed one-armed handheld no flash shooter,
henie
ps...i am still trying to figure out how to utilize the 'shift' key...seems my elbow is too big
