From Rattlesnake Ledge that morning the clouds rolled in. I jumped back and forth between color and black and white for this. I've got another similar version that I left in color, but only because I've been going b&w a lot lately.

C & C's always appreciated!

This is awesome, Brian. I love the B&W treatement. I feel like I'm just floating through on a cloud between the ledge. The branch is critical IMO to the image for balance and eye catching. Wonderful...

Extremely strong image, Brian. One of your best. The positioning of elements is amazing. Great depth. B&W treatment is perfect.

Wow, my depth perception gets thrown out the window here Brian! Something very Rorshachy and other wordly going on here too... Excellent and very wild feeling image.

Brian, this is a very intriquing image. At first glance, I was thinking I would like to see more shadow detail, but when I considered the title, I think you exposed this perfectly. The small bush/tree really helps make the image.

Fantastic perspective. Hard to tell if one is looking down at the clouds or a mirrored reflection. Very nice

This is really cool. I sort of wish there were a little more detail in the cliffs on the side, but I'm not that concerned about it really. Very interesting image.

Loving this one. Great perspective, B&W treatment great choice. I really like the dark sides. Too much shadow detail would detract from this one. The dark to light is great.

I love everything about this... particularly the fact that it is not the typical shot and a well done one at that. Absolutely no nits here. Well seen, captured and converted.

This is a strange perspective, and wonderful. I really like the choice to use black and white. Taking information away just makes this photo more of an enigma.

Thanks for the comments guys! Glad to hear the b&w works--I am really seeing everything in b&w these days. Appreciate the thoughts, particularly on the wall detail--I thought about how much to include for some time while processing.

Very clean and artistic looking. If my house were B&W I would put it on the wall.
Love the composition and overall presentation. :toast:

Brian, I missed this in ESS and just now caught this very fine image here in the EP selection for this week. Congratulations on this shot having been picked for this weeks ESS category. :toast: :jump:

Brian,

Congratulations on the EP choice. Yes, the B/W treatment really works. Both the clouds and the growing tree bridge the gap between the dark cliff walls.

A great window onto the world.

Wow. And just enough shadow texture to keep it "material" rather than sliding abstract. Love it.
