One more GH Instar Shot

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted June 29, 20071,762 views13 comments
Hi all.

Here is one more shot of the same GH instar as I posted just earlier this week. I am posting this one becasue: 1) No more center of the flower to be a distraction, 2) Darker BG (though that may or may not be a plus in some opinions).

Some good news for me, there is a new resident on another bloom of this same gaillardia plant. He is an instar of the same type, so I will get more chances to shoot these little guys! (at least I hope)

Any thoughts appreciated.

Nathan

Nathan: You get a model release from this guy? Good detail in the eye. I would like a bit more DOF to sharpen up the body a bit. I like this crop. >=))>

Nathan...very nice...like the diagonal lines...a bit more DOF to bring all the body into focus would make this even better :toast:

Nathan, I like this version better than the earlier one. Very nicely done.
A cool thing I am learning from your shots (apart from the techncial/aesthetic bits) is to keep working on a subject to perfection.. Thanks for sharing your pics.. :toast:

Really nice job on this shot, Nathan. Comp on this is great, and that contrast in color between the BG and the petals is fantastic. Nice evolution in this series of yours. Since you will be fortunate and have other opportunities, you might try placing the hopper with less space behind than in front. Ahhh, the endless pursuit of perfection. You don't have far to go with this one.

Geez Nathan, I seldom poke around in M/CU because it's mostly BUGS... The images are fascinating but creepy and I reach my limit on creepy kinda quickly.
Congrats on the EP for this guy!

Nathan, Congratulations on the EP.

I like your DoF very much with the sharp edge of the petal.

I would select your GH, mask everything else and either add a curves adjustment layer or do a touch of sharpening. I think that would really put this image over the top.

Very nice job.
