Glass Beach, California

some may not like a glass strewn beach but in this case we really loved it. never have seen good images from this btw.
Sure enough our two daughters loved the place as there were thousands of fine jewels to be found... they just picked a spot and played around there for themselves and when it was time to leave, we thought they really found a photogenic spot! (some of the shells were probably put together by them)
yep, it can help to bring along your kids on photo trips!

Perplexing collection, lots of interesting details, nice colors. After a while, there is a bit order in the chaos

Is this the one up in Ft. Bragg? My wife loves that place. This is an excellent shot of it.

So, this is just "trash glass" that has rolled around in the surf for years, getting polished and rounded? Where did it all come from?

Exquisite colors! I absolutely love this! The translucency of the glass adds an extra dimension to this.

John, yes that's at Fort Bragg, but we have found other locations too, further to the south.
Kent, it used to be that all the old glass (empty bottles etc.) was disposed into the ocean at this place and others. It probably was an ugly sight until Mother Nature put her artistic hand on it...

I didn't even know there was such a place. Must be difficult to walk on. Is the entire beach like this? Very unique and colorful.

Sharon, yes the whole (not very long) beach is full of tiny smoothed glass stones. Some spots are better some are not. Depending on tide and surf, I guess. No problem to walk on it at all.
