Anyone know the ID of this spider (1/4 inch across)? I'll start looking it up, but you may beat me to it.

D70 105mm
4sec. F/22
+0.3 ev

Thanks for taking a look and all comments appreciated.

It's a CS but I can't be of any more help. I have only seen a few species (Goldenrod, Elegant) but those are smooth and not stubbly. It's a nice capture, plenty of detail to get a positive ID. Hopefully someone can assist. Nice one Jay!

I think the flower is stealing a little too much of the limelight, but it's a cool shot.

Thanks for the comments. Charles - I thought about that as well and wondered about cropping some of the flower from the the right. What do you think.

Nice capture!

The id is unknown to me, even with some of my references. I am thinking that it is a lynx spider (family oxyopidae) of some sort.

If you figure it out, I'd love to know.

Sorry I can't help you with the ID but the photo it's great. You did a very good job with those yellows that are so difficult.

That's cool -it looks like the center of the flower stood up and walked off the way the colors are so close. Nice portfolio also.

The flower seems to be the main subject, and the spider is just an added bonus.

It's a gorgeous photo.

I don't think cropping the flower would make it better - it's already about as good as it gets.

You should be able to get the spider ID'd at BugGuide.net

Very, VERY impressive shot, Jay! Love the way you have the spider in its environment, which is the flower. The colors are just great and I think are among the most difficult to capture well. You sure did it. Congrats on the EP, too. :toast:

One word Jay, perfect. Amazing how the colors of the spider perfectly match the colors of the flower. Now, that's what I call camoflauge.
