WC 296 Moonrise - Taos, NM

On a trip to Taos last summer, I got up early to shoot the sunrise and found something quite different. With no clouds in the sky, I knew the sunrise opportunity was for another day, and I almost went back to bed. Sure glad the dog had to go out for her morning bathroom break. I opened the front door of the house, and this is the scene that greeted me. Thought it fit the weekly challenge quite well. Thanks for looking!

Hi Dominic,

That moon is totally awesome and the star, most likely a planet, really adds to your composition.

Very nice.

Hey Dominic! A classic shot utilizing negative space. Love the tones in the sky and the Moon & Venus combo is the icing on the cake. Very nice shot! :toast:

Dominic,

Great use of open space in the sky. I really like the spacing of the moon and venus(?) Also a great silhouette of the mountain ridge. All those elements work together nicely for a great image!

Dominic: Congrats on a well deserved EP. I always try to plan trips for a full or new moon. Sometimes, like this image, I think the crescent is more powerful and interesting. Very well done. Be sure to give your pooch an extra doggie biscuit. >=))>

Thanks for all of the great comments. It is certainly a memorable photograph. It hangs over my desk, so I see it every day. And, Bill, my dog, Maggie, certainly got her "thank yous" on this one.
