I made this image couple of days back at a rocky moutain in southern India. At the outset every thing looks just rocks but a close inspection reveals an ecosystem beautifully surviving on those rocks. I guess over thousands of years these life forms beautifully adapted to survive in this environment. Another image of one other species in this ecosystem is here.

Image details : Nikon D200, Nikon 105mm f2.8 Micro plus two PK-13 extention tubes, full frame. As always thanks for your views.

Hello Ganesh,
Man, what a find. This little guy must have moved in order for you to find him. No way you could have seen him with the perfect camoflauge. I am really amazed at how evolution has perfectly matched him to his environment. Just goes to prove how long both he and this particular environment have been around.

Just to show how this perfect camoflauge occurs in other areas of the world, here is a shot I took on a beach on the Gulf of Mexico a few years ago.

Ronnie, beautiful image there ! Thanks for sharing. Nature is amazing...

Yes you are right, it often used to jump. The only way to find it out on the rocks were during its jump. No way we can find it when sitting. :wavey:

Hello Again Ganesh,
This is obviously a nymph. Have you ever seen an adult and do they maintain the same coloring. The grasshopper I posted above was an adult so I would image the adults maintain their nymph colors and patterns.
