Tallow Tree Leaves...

I'm not sure where to put this image..LOL - it could go in Macro, it could go in Man and Nature, and it could in Earth, Sea and Sky - although no HOM is evident.. this is a flatbed scan of the leaves. It's raining like cats and dogs in my neck of the woods today, so I had to think out of the box a bit to keep myself occupied. I went outside and gathered up several Tallow tree leaves of varying colors - brought them in and dried them off. Once done, I placed them on the flatbed scanner and scanned away... The print came out awesome!! :jump:

Canon 620U flatbed scanner, fresh fallen leaves, cropped and resized in Photoshop.

Michael,

I believe you must have captured every color of the spectrum in this one. Very good job on the scan, looks very sharp. There was a woman on another site that only used her scanner to produce images and did some amazing work.

Excellent idea and I love your collection of colorfull leaves! Really nicely done. Some of the leaves look a bit soft and lack detail...(red leaf on the left, grean leaf in the upper right corner). Is this due to the scan?

Thanks for the comments! Jasper.. the leaves were directly ON the scanner pane..so the OOF stuff is because I didn't squish them totally flat..I wanted some depth in the image... :)

TThis has an almost velvet-like appearance to the leaves, with the texture and the colors. Thanks for posting it.

What a great idea Mike. I love those colors. This looks like it was done with a 4X5.
Bring the print to Choke Canyon, I'd love to see it. :toast:

Awesome shot Michael! I am not sure if the composition of this was intentional - but it must have been tricky composing it leaves face down on the scanner. It came out great.

Hi Michael,

I don't have the faintest idea what a Tallow tree looks like but after seeing this image, I'm really curious.

The colors are magnificent.

No idea you could do this with a scanner. Interesting.
