Oh, the Places You'll Go...

Ahh, the life of the photographer!

Sure, we put up with the 4 AM wake-up calls, the freezing early morning temperatures, the miserable weather, the low-to-no-pay, the long days of driving, the long days of hiking and climbing with a good 20-pounds or more of heavy camera gear, etc. But we also visit some of the most beautiful and quiet places on this earth that few others even realize exist. These are the places where we fall in love again with photography, the earth, and life.

This was such a location, as my friend Adam sets up for another one of his undoubtedly masterful creations. (In my humble opinion, Adam is an elite photographer in the making, simply working and waiting for his one big break to fulfill his dream).

Thankfully lost in Utah. Canon 5D. 17-40L. 1/40th @ f16. ISO 320. The rest are just details.

The light in there was truly great. Nicely composed.

I really like where you positioned Adam in the frame and your top down perspective. Nice work!

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Thanks Jody, that means a lot. And I still owe you that beer (but I never seem to get up to CO anymore).

A nice photo and a good by-line to with it. Seeing the photo and reading the story gave me a bit of an urge to want to be there along with you guys.

Very cool, Brian. Love your description, too, especially the, "Thankfully lost in Utah." That and the photo say it all. Congrats on the EP.

nice shot brian, very nice composition.. was this handheld, why did you choose ISO 320? I guess 1/40th was the minimum speed you thought you needed to get adam sharp?
