The Rose
by Rick Lundh
Shot this sandstone formation and although it was cool, I felt it needed something more...so I selected the red rock in the center, made a layer out of it, then did a B&W conv on the rest of the rock (which was yellowish).
CS3 is great because now they let you convert individual layers to B&W, where as before...you couldn't. You had to make a seperate image, then paste them together.

This one really gets my interest. It is quite different from the norm and yet is some simple in concept. Wonderful work!
You could decolorize in CS2 without making a separate image - just apply a layer mask to your decolorized image and paint in black on the mask those areas you wanted to restore the original colour to. In fact, I still do it that way with CS3.

Good job,

Really nice shot, and a great conversion. Congrats on the EP!
I dedicate this to my brother Stephen who died in a car wreck many years ago. He was a senior in high school...some 27 years ago.
I saw the movie "The Rose" with Bette Midler in it, the night we had that aweful knock on the door.
