Timeless

It's nice to back at NPN! This is probably my favorite image from my recent trip to Asia. This is a cormorant fisherman on the banks of the Li River in China. The fishermen tie a loose string around the cormorant's neck, who then dives in the river and catches the fish but can't swallow it completely. The fisherman pulls the fish out and puts it in a basket. Many of these small fish are eaten but some are also used as bait to catch larger fish. This traditional method of fishing has existed for over a thousand years here on the Li River.
