Color Amongst Nothingness

This image was captured on a day where one could not see more than 50 feet in front of them. A deep and glourious fog encompessed much of Illinois. I saw the little oaks with some dead leaves still on them. They were still full of beautiful brown colors. A simple comp, but I enjoyed how the scene looked like nothing at all but the two little oak trees standing out amongst the nothing ness.

Thanks for your time and thoughts.

Sweet! I really like this Ryan. I'd wish for a bit more space on the left, but still this is freaking awesome.

I also like the simplicity, and the extra dimension that the mist shrouded tree in the background provides.

Like Japanese artwork. Beautiful simplicity. I like how the 2nd tree appears to not be anchored to anything.

The slight fade away of the the second, smaller oak gives your image real feeling and I love it. I agree with the Zen comments.

So many features make this a wonderful winter study. For me, the one thing that made the comp and gave it its meaning is the little divit at the base of the tree on the left. Incredible shot.

Oh man, I love this! Superb eye on this Ryan. My only small nit is I would like more room on the left side, but that's easily fixed if you wanted to add some space there. Beautiful minimalist image. Well done.

Great composition Ryan. It does remind me very much of Japanese prints I've seen and liked. It's also maybe a visual metaphor for an echo.

Ryan -- Thanks! I just stared at this for a long time, and the tensions of the day just disappeared in the fog! Your arrangements of the elements here is perfect, but for a large print (which you really should make!) can I suggest that you add a bit more foggy space on both sides and the top? I think that would help me get lost in the image even more, without running into the boundaries.

I like this very much, Ryan. Lovely subject isolation, has a meditative quality. A little more foggy space would make it perfect, but it is pretty close to perfect as is. Otherwise a broad white mount (when you proudly hang this up) will emphasise the feeling of isolation, and stark beauty. Congrats!

Ryan,

A quick first glance and I thought, oh, just a re-sized clone.... but quickly I realize it's not. This is wonderful image. The fog really provided a great opportunity to grab this and you've done a great job in seeing and capturing this. Simple is good - and this has a great impact.
Well done.

A wonderfully artistic shot, Ryan--really, really excellent with the echo of the tree. This is expert use of fog and snow.

All I would do is add some blank space to the left, which should be a very simple matter given the absence of detail.

Excellent!
