It's cold here again, so bundled up and put hot packs in the boots and gloves to get this photo. The autofocus was bogging down and found that I had to take off the teleconverter to get it to work reliably. Nose kept freezing to the lcd protector. So, yeah it was cold.

Hi Gary,
I like this one. Great to capture the puffed up look, and focus is right on. The falling snow is nice too. I can almost feel the cold. :toast: :toast:

Very nice Gary. Just looking at the Finch makes me feel cold. I've still yet to see one of these , but they have occasionally appeared in our area.

Nicely captured. And, I get the cold. I know the feeling of having fingers that no longer function. That being said I really like the detail in the feathers and the nice head turn. The falling snow adds nicely to the picture.

I love this photo even more because it conveys the cold, but I didn't have to brave it. Mopre power to ya! The snow flakes and the puffed up bird just wow and the lighting and composition are super.

Nice capture Gary. As with everybody else's comments, this photo sure has a cold feel about it. Hopefully this recent cold snap will stave off the pine beetles from moving further into western Alberta.

A terrific image as posted, and I wish it was mine. I've only seen their close relative the Black Rosy Finch here in AZ.

Beautiful Work, Gary! I love the cold, gray tones to this. The clarity is just awesome, with the sleet and snow as an added benefit. Appreciate all the effort into capturing this wonderful image. Oh yeah, beautiful bird helps too!

Oh, wow, this is so nice. I have never seen one like this. It really is rosey, as your image shows so well. I'll bet it was glad for the ability to puff up it's coat of feathers; makes it look many times its actual size. Fun shot, so well done. Congrats on the Pick.

Yup...this image speaks COLD Gary! I like the little spittens of snow. This finch looks bundled up. The head pose and positioning in the frame is perfect. Although the subject is vertical, I like it as a horizontal. It gives the bird room to breath a bit.
