Roses from Home

If the truth be told, I'm working on experimenting with the combination of an f/2.8 70-200mm lens + a Canon 500D diopter + a 1.7 TC. The roses are handy and when the winds are not blowing they are the perfect subjects for my manual focusing experimentation.

All of these particular shots came from a rosebush with the prettiest yellow and pink roses. Who knows what they called? They're simply roses to my uneducated eyes

Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments and suggestions.

Carol,

I like the images and it's also nice that they're big enough to see. I like the comp on the first the best I think but they're all nice.

Looks like the wonderful PEACE rose, to me.
Interesting shots and I like your idea here.
Thid new addition to the forum (series shots) is a great idea.

The colours are simply gorgeous Carol and I can see why you love these. I never know the names either Carol, thats why we need folks like Sandy there. Fine selective focus and yes, a great series of shots for these. Very nice and rich to see :toast: :toast:

All the best Carol, beautifully done and worth...hmmm........3 cups

Beautiful, Carol, you do justice to my namesake!
I would probably chose a different bg color, the brownish hue doesnt compliment the roses well enough. WIsh i could tell you what color, but im not sure without actually seeing it.

Great job Carol. Looks like you're experimentation is paying off. I really like the lighting/shadowing on the petals in the 3rd.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts in this one, Carol! All three shots are individually excellent but together as a series they become a study of a rose, a whole story. Very nicely presented also. The only improvement I can suggest is a little softer and lighter on the shadows. I think it would give it more of a 3D appearance. A beautiful series! :toast:

Carol, this is really a lovely series. You're getting dialed into shallow dof very well and picking up the patterns, design, etc. The middle image is wonderful for showing us the subject in its context; I love the little peek at the desert on the right. Mellow, smooth coffee on this one, I'd say, and a very appealing result.
