Silver lining...

This is a brand new leaf of a Copper Beech (Fagus sylvaticus 'Atropurpurea'). I was struck by the beautiful backlight that turned the hairy edge into a kind of silver. I would have liked a bit more DOF, maybe next time.

D300, Sigma105, 1/500, F8, ISO400

Very nice, Ellen. The lighting is very exciting - I agree that it should have bit more DOF in the lower left corner, but all in all its a great shot

This is a very beautiful subject and backlight is perfect for showing the details and colors. The silver hair is very nice, but it really needs to all be in focus because it is such a highlight. The general "attitude" of the composition is good, but you might consider moving the major red vein away from a direct hit to the corner of the frame. I hope you don't mind an attempt at constructive criticism.

Hello Ellen.

Totally stunning, Love the feel to this one from the lovely golden colour with all the vein detail. And the silver lining and black background make this a winner in my book.

Hi Ellen,
I have been browsing this forum, because I am just starting out with macro/close-up photography and wanted some inspiration. This image surely gives me that inspiration. Wow! Fantastic capture of textures, and the backlighting is beautiful.
