I grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and currently live in the seaside town of Anglesea, just down the coast. I am an aspiring photographer with a focus on the natural world. I have always had a deep love of nature, all the time wanting to explore new landscapes and environments, to discover new plants, animals and insects. I feel a sense of wonder when looking at the world and I like to linger and absorb the feeling of being in a place. Conveying to the viewer this sense of wonder and feeling of place is my ultimate goal, and it is something for which I strive every time I head out with camera in hand.

Photography has held a fascination for me ever since my tenth birthday, when my parents gave me my first camera. It was a simple little film camera, point-and-shoot, fixed focus, fixed aperture and all that, but it sparked something in my head - an urge to capture what I see and feel when looking at the world. At that age it was just for myself, so I could remember and hopefully feel it all again later. In recent years, especially with the advent of digital photography, that spark has become a fire, driving me, with almost a need, to photograph what I see and to endlessly practice, practice, practice.

I enjoy all types of photography and try all of them when the opportunity arises. In the past year, especially, I have developed a love for macro photography, particularly of insects, and have worked hard to develop my skills. Though I have a preoccupation with nature photography, the human world also holds much fascination. It presents many different challenges photographically, which are often related to the different geometries - straight lines, perfect curves and the different forms of perspective that these create. Art and architecture, human history and the ways in which humans add to and change the landscape are all themes which I find very rewarding and satisfying to describe in photos.

Please click through and view the samples of my work included in this portfolio, which I have divided into the categories of "Earth, Sea & Sky", "Flora", "Fauna", and "The Human World".

I hope you sense, even in small part, the feelings I am trying to convey.
