I am a native of Arkansas. I fell in love with nature as a child, opting for outdoor activities rather than television and video games. During my childhood I spent quite a lot of time at Devil's Den State Park near my hometown of West Fork. I went South to Mount Nebo and West to New Mexico to visit grandparents. I always seemed to be surrounded by the beauty of nature. As a young adult I began spending much of my free time hiking and paddling in the Buffalo National River in North Central Arkansas. It seemed only natural to start carrying a camera with me. I have taken a much more serious approach to photography over the past four years. My real passion is waterfalls, though I have recently developed an interest in many other forms of nature photography. Spring is my favorite season. I love the fall, too, but nothing beats the "new-ness" of spring after the stark months of winter. I switched from film to digital capture about three years ago, but I still have a real soft spot for Velvia. There is just something about a tranparency that really stirs the soul. The Ozarks Mountains are my home. They possess a delicate beauty that really draws me in. The don't have the grandeur or familiarity of other destinations, but those that know the Ozarks truly understand their allure. I'll go many other places in my life, but I'll always call Arkansas home.
