Ed Erkes was born in Rock Hill, SC in 1955, but moved to North Carolina at the age of four--growing up at Wrightsville Beach, NC. He served in the Air Force Dental Corps for 21 years, retiring in 2002 with the grade of Colonel. He now lives and practices dentistry in Goldsboro, NC. Ed has been interested in the outdoors and nature all his life and has been photographing nature's wonders since 1982. His images have been published in National Wildlife, Birds and Blooms, Nature Photographer, Bluebird, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Wildlife in North Carolina, as well as other regional and local newspapers and magazines.
