Helio Cristóvão is a Nature and Landscape photographer, based in Sintra, Portugal, but in the last 6 years has been developing professional activity between all the Alentejo and Lisbon regions. He was born in the village of Alenquer. The connection with the mountain sceneries, plain and sea coast where he usually photographs is inseparable, since he´s been evolving in his technique, he is in constant movement traveling in Portugal, in search of good light, exploring, and photographing in sceneries of natural beauty.
The way as he composes with light, the dramatism in the Nature and the aesthetics and composition of his images, they are revealed of a style of photography in the most artistic and interpretative side of scenery and natural details. The moments of light that he catches are the result of a focused and insistent mind, trying to catch and to transport the energy and emotion for the photography.
Hélio´s place of interest to photograph are essentially Cape Roca (Westernmost Continental Europe), Estrela and Gerês National Park Mountains, and Southwest Algarve and Alentejo Seascapes.
At present time, he writes articles for Portuguese national magazines, he´s developing several projects, including the launch of a new website, he already produced Nature calendars and it has his available images for sale to the audience.
The author participated in the course of Nikon Digital - Atlant Photo image, S.R.L., he frequented formation of the Mil-Cores and Edimage, Lda - Digital processing (Photoshop) and participated in a workshop of Photography of Natural Scenery; but essentially, it is self-taught, learning with experience of field and methods of creative processing.

Hélio Cristóvão é fotógrafo de Natureza e Paisagem Natural, vive em Sintra, mas há 6 anos que vai desenvolvendo actividade profissional entre todo o Alentejo e Lisboa. Nasceu na vila de Alenquer, e desde a infância cresceu na envolvência de campo e Natureza. A ligação com os cenários serranos, planície e costa marítima onde fotografa habitualmente é inseparável, desde que se dedicou a aperfeiçoar a sua técnica, está em constante movimento viajando em Portugal, em busca de boa luz, explorando, e fotografando em cenários de excelência natural.
A forma como compõe com luz, o dramatismo que visiona na Natureza e a estética e composição das suas imagens, revelam-se de um estilo de fotografia na vertente mais artística e interpretativa de paisagem e detalhes naturais. Os momentos de luz que capta são o resultado de uma mente direccionada e insistente, procurando captar e transportar a energia e emoção para a fotografia. Como objectivos, procura a evolução profissional, e o despoletar do interesse na audiência, sensibilizando para outras realidades feitas de luz e causas de Natureza.
Os locais onde mais fotografa são essencialmente o Cabo da Roca (Ponto mais Ocidental do continente Europeu), Serra da Estrela, Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, costa e planície do Alentejo e costa Sudoeste do Algarve.
Hélio é membro do Nature Photographers Network (NPN), onde já viu algumas das suas fotografias reconhecidas pela crítica e onde já teve importante destaque internacional, representado entre as melhores imagens da comunidade de fotógrafos.
Actualmente, escreve artigos para revistas nacionais, desenvolve vários projectos, incluindo o lançamento do seu novo website, já produziu calendários de Natureza e tem as suas imagens disponíveis para venda ao grande público.
Ao nível da formação, o autor participou no curso de Nikon Digital - Atlant Photo image, S.R.L., frequentou formação da Mil-Cores e Edimage, Lda - Edição Digital (Photoshop) e participou num workshop de Fotografia de Paisagem Natural; mas essencialmente, é autodidacta, aprendendo com experiência de campo e métodos de edição criativa.
