For most of my life so far, I lived oblivious to the natural wonders of the Arkansas Ozarks that were within a few hours drive of my decades-long home. And then about 15 years ago I took up hiking as a hobby and started to discover the joys of a simple walk in the woods with a dog, and then discovered the even more fulfilling joys of not so simple and sometimes quite strenuous hikes to places the likes of which I had never imagined were in Arkansas, and which were like nothing I had ever seen.
For almost 15 years now I have been driving and hiking these Arkansas hills and forests, still almost always with a dog along to share the fun, in order to capture the wild Ozark light with a camera, seeking out the best of the well-known and iconic as well as the unknown and secret places where the light shines beauty on those who would look for it. And in all that time it has always been my goal not only to find and view these landscapes, streams, valleys, and hills in person, but also to record them and bring them back to the world to share what I have seen.
The images on these pages are a part of those years of effort, and as ever, it is my pleasure to share them, and my hope that you will experience some of the excitement viewing them that I experienced recording them.
