Kenn Leonhardt is a civil engineer based in Calgary, Alberta, actively pursuing photography and non-fiction writing in his spare time. He has traveled extensively across Western North America, from Alaska to Mexico, but it is the proximity of the Canadian Rockies that makes them the recurring favourite. Although Kenn enjoys photography, his true passion is to just be outdoors, whether its hiking, kayaking, backpacking, or otherwise enjoying what nature has to offer. Photography simply adds to that enjoyment, and creates a new way of looking at everyday scenes that may otherwise be missed and forgotten.
After using a Nikon F65 35mm SLR that had been dropped down cliffs and submerged in the Pacific, he went digital with a Nikon D70s dSLR in early 2006, and then a D7000 in 2011.
In mid-2008, he began experimenting with more advanced techniques and equipment, and relaunched his website at
http://www.kennleonhardt.com. He's also become a regular image critique participant at
Nature Photographers Online Magazine, which has provided him with incredible amounts of knowledge and inspiration.
